Alexis de Tocqueville

The Alexis de Tocqueville Society was created by the United Way to recognize individuals who render outstanding voluntary service in their communities. The name was chosen because of Tocqueville's admiration for the spirit of voluntary association and voluntary effort for the common good, a spirit he observed in America and about which he wrote enthusiastically.

The Society is comprised of community leaders who provide gifts of at least $10,000 to the annual campaign of their local United Way.

Please contact your local United Way for more information. You may refer to our Member United Ways page or visit: http://national.unitedway.org/myuw/.
