United Way of Pennsylvania, a nonprofit statewide organization representing United Ways across the Commonwealth, is looking for an intern interested in learning aspects of public policy work, along with membership development and marketing skills. It's essential that applicants to this position have excellent communication skills, demonstrate creativity, and understand the importance of attending to even the smallest details.
· Monitor and engage UWP social media
· Schedule legislative meetings and monitor legislative bills
· Write press releases and communication pieces
· Design various marketing materials
· Update UWP website
· Contribute to UWP bi-weekly and monthly newsletters
· Attend and assist with UWP Annual Conference
· Screen phone calls
· Assist with mailings, print production
Students applying for this internship must have strong communication skills and should be majoring in Political Science, Communications, Marketing or a similar area of study. Applicants should also have strong writing skills, as well as a solid understanding of social media. Applicants must be proficient in Microsoft Office. Applicants should have some interest in government relations work, but this is not required.

Timeframe for Internship
Summer Intern to begin mid-May through August, with the potential to continue into the Fall 2017 semester, should there be a need. Interns can use this for school credit or not.
Intern will be paid $8.50-$10.50/hr. depending on experience.
