Overtime Eligibility Standards Proposal & Getting Involved in Advocacy

Governor Wolf recently put out a rule proposal regarding overtime eligibility standards, which are similar to the proposal put forth at the federal level a couple years ago. The proposed rule would require a wage threshold for “exempt status” and revisions to the “duties tests”, used to determine eligibility. Additionally, the proposed rule would establish an automatic update to the salary threshold every three years beginning in 2023.

UWP realizes this rule would have implications on our members and many nonprofits throughout the state.  We would like to hold a webinar on Friday, July 20th at 10a.m. with guest speakers from the PA Chamber of Business and PA Dept. of Labor & Industry to education our members on what this proposal entails and how it will impact United Ways and the communities we represent.  

Following our learning on the proposed rule, UWP will be holding a 30-minute refresher on the importance of advocacy in our United Way work and how UWP can support our members in this area. Advocacy ensures that United Ways make their voice, and the voices of those we serve, heard when policy is enacted. Without advocacy - United Ways lose vital opportunities to make sustainable impact.
