What is VISTA?

AmeriCorps VISTA (Volunteers in Service to America) members bring their passion and perseverance where the need is greatest: to organizations that help eradicate poverty. The most pressing challenges we face as a nation require the most courageous and creative people to address them. An AmeriCorps VISTA member serves as a catalyst for change, living and working alongside community members to advance local solutions.

United Way of Pennsylvania's VISTA Project

United Way of Pennsylvania's mission is to assist and champion the efforts of local United Ways in advancing the common good. This VISTA project will have United Way of Pennsylvania partnering with United Way of Lebanon County and Greater Susquehanna Valley United Way. The VISTA project aligns with the education focus area identified by the Corporation for National Comunity Service. The VISTA project will seek to increase school readiness by providing increased access to high quality pre-k in Lebanon county and drive K-12 success by implementing an out of school program in Northumberland, Synder, and Union counties. These programs will serve families and children living without financial stability. VISTA members will contribute to the goals off the project by performing activities such as designing programs, building community partnerships, expanding programs throughout the service area, collecting outcome data, and customizing programs to serve the needs of their communities over the course of three years.
To fulfill their goals, United Way of Lebanon County and Greater Susquehanna Valley United Way will be hosting three VISTA members. To see the position descriptions, please look below:
