Working Pennsylvanians Tax Credit Passes PA House with Overwhelming Bipartisan Support
The Pennsylvania House of Representatives has taken a powerful step toward economic opportunity for working families. With a resounding bipartisan vote of 185 to 18, House Bill 820 the Working Pennsylvanians Tax Credit, passed the House, demonstrating strong legislative support for policies that support workforce participation and lift working people out of poverty and into financial stability.
HB 820 establishes a refundable state Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) set at 30% of the federal credit. Modeled after the proven success of the federal EITC, this initiative is designed to support low- and moderate-income working Pennsylvanians. If enacted, eligible households would receive an average credit of $780—providing critical relief for everyday expenses like groceries, transportation, home repairs, and education.
