We focus on Education, Economic Mobility, Health, and supporting our community through our Agency Partners.

Our Programs

Transforming Readers

Transforming Readers is a dynamic volunteer tutoring program serving Kindergarten through 4th grade students who are reading just below grade level. Built on the belief that reading is the cornerstone of academic and lifelong success, this program helps children develop the strong literacy foundation they need to thrive.

Through our RSVP program, we recruit, screen, and support dedicated community volunteers who serve as reading tutors. These caring adults provide individualized or small-group reading practice, giving students the boost they need to make measurable progress—often at a faster rate than they would without tutoring support.

Now active in six elementary schools, Transforming Readers is currently helping 490 students unlock their reading potential. Trained volunteers commit just two hours each week over a 10-week semester, delivering consistent, high-impact support that fosters confidence, builds essential skills, and transforms young readers into future leaders.

Gift Of Warmth

Each year during the holiday season, area companies and organizations send numerous tokens of appreciation to their clients and vendors. The Gift of Warmth program encourages these socially conscious business leaders to use all or even a portion of their gift-giving budget to send the Gift of Warmth instead.

To ensure your generous donation is carefully and appropriately utilized, the United Way fund is closely monitored by trained social workers and volunteers and is used for extreme emergencies to provide emergency fuel/utility assistance or emergency furnace repair.
